  1. Reference re: Oliver Johnson
Apologies: This reference was issued to Ollie electronically, via my teaching blog. Please excuse the lack of headed paper; if further clarification is needed, please contact me on the contact details below. Kind regards, Mrs Alannah Johnson.

    To whom it may concern,

I have taught Ollie Johnson for two and a half academic years at Swaffham Hamond's High School, in English, literature, media studies and drama. Ollie is a lively and energetic student, who endeavours to lead other students towards creating high quality pieces; in drama especially. He does this by ensuring that his work is of an exceptional quality by providing constructive and inspirational feedback to his peers. It was whilst marking drama responses from GCSE students, that I realised how impressive and supportive Ollie's advice was; a student suffering from a severe lack of confidence, wrote in his controlled assessment, that he was very thankful for Ollie's help and advice and how he could not have developed a successful performance without him - this student was not even working directly with Ollie.

Ollie's ability in drama is exemplary; he is creative, constructive and hard working - he understands and is able to apply, various drama theorists, such as Brecht, Artaud and Stanislavski. He is particularly able in improvisation and achieved full marks in his practical exploration of Godber's 'Teechers'. I am also lucky enough to work with Ollie in this year's school production, 'Little Shop of Horrors' - he has met the challenging role as Audrey II with vigour and raw talent - again supporting his cast members (who may not be as experienced as him vocally) and allowing them to support him.

Though English and media studies do interest Ollie, it is clear that his true passion is drama. This does not mean that Ollie does not endeavour to succeed in the other subjects - he often works with me in his own time, to gain further understanding in these areas and demonstrates pride in his achievements - within two months of being moved into the top English set, Ollie took the early entry exam and overachieved his FFT grade (C) and improved his D grade to a B grade in the November exam.

Ollie is an extremely popular student at Hamond's high school and often uses his social influence to support me when trying to encourage younger students and students from his year group, to act in a mature and positive manner - I have no doubt whatsoever, that Ollie would not only be an asset to your drama course, but an outstanding influence within your college.

Ollie will be sorely missed by students and staff at Swaffham Hamond's High School; Ollie with his humble understanding of his ability, will not make this clear to you, but from someone who knows him so well academically: you would be lucky to have him.
    Yours faithfully,
    Mrs Alannah Johnson
